Trap music, a sound that's defining the modern soundscape, has deep roots in the Southern United States. While its origins can be traced back to the late 1970s, it was in the latter half of the 20th century that trap truly emerged. Drawing from the sounds of hip-hop, gangsta rap, and instrumental music, early trap concentrated on dark, heavy beats
